4 days ago | mod | Removed Comment I have never Googled "how to center div 2025" because the last time I had to center a div was in 2024. I've never asked ChatGPT to fix a syntax error because I use Copilot. Exiting Vim is basically the only thing I know how to do in Vim, but I can do it. And my bug fixin' is generally one-for-one.
On the flip side, I can write some code without StackOverflow and AI. Writing a game in Assembly, these days, is for a specific kind of hobbyist or absolute fools. Languages using pointers are mostly for specific types of application and completely irrelevant for most programmers these days -- and the overwhelming bulk of us are better for it. And writing code by hand is an incredible talent and skill, but again, essentially useless these days. by @GooberEar@lemmy.wtfreason: Troll |

4 days ago | mod | Removed Comment I agree with you: I never intended to imply explicit anti-diversity intentions or even awareness of the biases embedded in our culture.
> Implicit bias refers to the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner. Implicit biases are activated involuntarily, unconsciously, and without one’s awareness or intentional control (see, e.g., Greenwald & Krieger, 2006; Kang, et al., 2012; Nier, 2005; Rudman, 2004a)

It's just people making memes, and most people who make memes who are guys will make memes with guys in them, because they identify with them the most.

i think it is safe to say turkey ist a really really stupid country. or to be more precise: the people living in turkey must be stupid as they not omly shit on their minorities (e.g. kurds) like normal nazis but constantly also on their own people as anyone can see from how they dont even help the victims of the last earthquake in the east.

8 months ago | mod | Removed Comment Russia's newly minted oligarchs tried to run west too, but were denied. That's a fundamental reason why Putin turned out the way he did despite being the CIA's "guy" in the early 90s.
And the reason why the former Soviet bloc's new upper class wanted to run west was because they were in the process of restoring capitalism and the West had all of the capitalist economists. The Soviet *people* voted overwhelmingly in favor of retaining the Soviet Union, albiet with reforms, in a referendum that was ignored when the leaders of the USSR's constituent republics agreed behind closed doors to dissolve the nation. by @SSJMarx@lemm.eereason: Misinformation and/or political propaganda, out of topic. |
8 months ago | mod | Removed Comment The USSR was the most progressive country in the world while it existed along basically every single axis of comparison to other countries. It was a miracle and it uplifted hundreds of millions directly while supporting the liberation struggles of hundreds of millions more, and its collapse was the second greatest tragedy of the twentieth century behind WW2 and The Holocaust, causing over six million excess deaths to its former citizens and the largest peacetime drop in living conditions experienced by any society in history.
And while it never "achieved communism," it was definitely Communist all the way up until Gorbachev and his faction started privatizing things, turning the common ownership of the Soviet people back into private capital for a small oligarchy that would go on to rule its far right hyper-capitalist successor states. by @SSJMarx@lemm.eereason: Misinformation and/or political propaganda, out of topic. |
