REDMOND, Washington — A pro-Palestinian protester interrupts the keynote event of Microsoft’s 50th anniversary celebration, the latest backlash over the tech industry’s work to supply artificial intelligence technology to the Israeli military.

The protest happens as Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman presents product updates and a long-term vision for the company’s AI assistant product, Copilot, to an audience that includes Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and former CEO Steve Ballmer.

“Mustafa, shame on you,” shouts a woman in the audience. “You claim that you care about using AI for good but Microsoft sells AI weapons to the Israeli military.”

I’m unsure how this post intrigues my interests in technology. I don’t think this is related at all.

It’s like posting a 9/11 post in a Boeing community so all the Boeing nerds can learn which plane model was used. I feel like there are more relevant communities for it.

Bruh 911 was like 20+ years ago. Nobody supports the hijackers. Nobody is protesting against them.

But the genocide in palestine is happening right now using technology from Microsoft.

Ok sure. Leave it as is. I can say it’s not interesting to me and I’d much rather see posts more deeply linked to technology and not politics here. I’m entitled to my own opinion. Let’s just leave it at that.

Things can be about multiple things.

  • TL;DR: she works on the speech to text AI product on Azure, which is used by Israel for some of their operations.

Look, I understand her desire to stop fighting in Palestine, but by that logic, we should also be protesting every software and computer manufacturer.

No. You work by Money and not question where its how used.

But as soon as you find out. You mostly have issues switching jobs. Inside the job, you can still do change and disrubt things, like she has done.

I generally dont understand your logic. Sorry.
