You are aware they started that narrative for two reasons: 1) To distract from the fact they were radicalizing nazis in the area and 2) to drum up justification for a war with china. The only reason it’s still around despite the MOUNTAINS of evidence proving it wrong is because Americans are so fucking racist that they don’t even care that it’s blatantly bullshit because it gives them moral carte blanche to hate china.

Most people don’t know they’re being propagandized in the first place, so it doesn’t occur to them to see past it. And of those who do notice, most don’t have the time, energy, skill set, and inclination to dig out the truth. It’s not impossible, but it is a lot of work. The information is accessible, but corporate media generally aren’t going to provide it.
