At Walgreens guy claims that he delivered one candy bar to a customer once. Said he got 4 dollar tip on top of cost or the candy bar. I think that’s crazy and got to be exaggerated. I mean who so lazy they order a single candy bar through Doordash?
When I was delivering for Gopuff I had someone tip me $10 for delivering a pack of floss to them at midnight. I think time of day figures into this a lot too, since there aren’t many 24 hour stores anymore.
Some people are really lazy, and the workers of these services are usually so underpaid that it’s not even that crazily expensive.
With the tip had to be at least a 10 dollar candy bar, or hell more. Candy bars around here are 3 dollars for a full size.
It’s $10 to not have to go somewhere. Cost of the candy bar is kind of irrelevant.
Shrug. Some people just don’t care about money like that. Some are even just that rich.
Either way, being out of baby formula is kind of a big deal, so it makes sense to pay extra to get it as soon as possible.
Better than an acquaintance that orders bags of sand or concrete.
I ordered a DQ blizzard once. Store is literally walking distance.
But I wanted it and didn’t want to go anywhere. And someone might need the money and it’d take em like two minutes so…

Nerdwallet has a recent article on this. One makes less than a minimum wage job once all expenses and time are accounted for. The only benefit to the driver is flexibility. It’s the same story for ridesharing too.
Yeah there’s plenty of drivers that know they’re getting screwed but also quite a few that don’t seem to understand what operating costs are.

I choose to believe it was a disabled diabetic person who ordered one candy bar. They needed to quickly regulate blood sugar and couldn’t get themselves out of the house alone and in time.
Paying a few extra dollars would be a small price to pay.

They’ve been reliable for me. Of course, I usually pay the extra three dollars for express service.
Quicker and cheaper than a visit to the hospital.

I’ve heard stories from coworkers who have worked ED of people who didn’t want to call an ambulance for their heart attack or stroke symptoms and lost control of the vehicle and plowed their car through the ED waiting area. Also one of the reasons we don’t have drunk tanks anymore is cops misdiagnosing things like hypoglycemia. So if you’ve got the low glucose sweats & jitters it might be worth doordashing a snack.
My advice to people with recurrent chest pain that’s confirmed to be anxiety is to call a friend and chat while you do some light housework or go for a walk or whatever. If it gets better with light activity it’s anxiety. If it turns out you finally are actually having a heart attack, your friend can call the ambulance.
My friend doordashed a slurpee from 7/11, and I’ve always wondered who made that slurpee. Did the delivery person have to make and deliver it, or did the clerk have to come out from behind the bullet proof glass to make someone else a slurpee?
Clerk probably made it, they have the pickups ready and waiting on the counter for the dashers

I had a surprise Doordash delivery one night. Turns out my kid beat his friend on Siege so the friend had to ship him a Monster.
I can absolutely imagine sitting around with mates and deciding to order a delivered candy bar just to see if they would do it.

I dashed for a bit during the pandemic and I had this one older lady a couple times just order a big gulp from the 7-Eleven a couple minutes away with a $5 tip. She explained to me she ran a business from home and this was essentially a charitable act because she felt blessed in a situation that sucked for most people. Super nice lady.
Also once had an old man in a rich neighbourhood give me a $20 for a pizza that was about 5 minutes away, he said he has more money than he knows what to do with lol.
Also also, delivered some McDonald’s late at night probably 1 am or something. This girl in her 20s was sitting out front hitting a bong and asked if I’d take a toke as a tip lol
It was honestly kinda fun to do on the side when I was bored and wanted to feel like I was being productive

Yeah didn’t think of that. That would be a valid reason to use Doordash plus something someone high or drunk would do. Probably regret it when they sober up though.

My sister is a manager at a Dollar General and they get orders all day, everyday for single cheap items like this (soda, candy, chips, etc). While some of it is probably add-ons to other orders, many are not.
Its the same with Walgreens. Its always one to two items. Did a curbside for 2 small items and a dasher picked it up not the customer. I don’t whete they getting the money? Doordash is expensive as hell. And this a small town.
You are surrounded in life by people with very little financial sense.
Well think only reason Walgreens stays open is the amount people who come to load money to their cashapp or chime card. These people all look the same, and I guess don’t have bank accounts. Add the amount of mouth breathers wearing Trump hats and for some reason do their grocery shopping exclusively at Walgreens is nuts. I mean we have grocery store that much cheaper across the street.
Also you be surprised how many people still print out 4x6 pictures. We keep running out of the printer paper for them. Got people doing 300 pics at a time. I am like who fuck still does physical pictures like this. And its not all old people.
Also a small number of people with so much money that the convenience is worth it.
Food desert, no public or personal transportation.
Nope we haves Reasors grocery store across the street. Several gas stations. I mean we have 3 Quick Trips. Also Walmart is probably a mile down the road.
Edit: forgot to mention we have 5 Dollars General in town then add in the Dollar Tree we have plenty of food places.

How have you found them useful? I have not yet been able to find a practical use.
They’re useful for funneling as much money as possible to as few people as possible.
