I don’t know why you’d disapprove of doctors making sure patients understand the consequences of a permanent procedure before agreeing to do it.

Hell, we expect tattoo artists to make sure people want the outcome they’re asking for before putting ink to skin, and to refuse if they think you might not be thinking clearly. (Most won’t actually tattoo drunk people for example).
