I have played both this and Pathfinder, and I enjoyed Pathfinder just as much ☺️ - think it’s on sale on gog 😊
There’s a pathfinder video game?
I really want to try this game but it’s still so expensive. I’ve heard it’s worth it
Expensive? It’s $45 on Steam? I consider $45 for potentially hundreds of hours of entertainment to be extremely cheap.
It’s actually worth the price. I’m also a patient gamer; this is the only full price game I’ve bought since 2020ish. 120 hours to beat the main campaign once is already worth it. There’s actually substance to the hype around the game. The only full price game I’ll buy in the foreseeable future is Silksong.
Yeah I’m going patient gamer with this one. Partially it’s because I’ve not enjoyed the combat in other Larian games, even the critically acclaimed D:OS2. More more of an old school RtwP fan like the original 2 Baldurs Gate games.
However I’m a huge RPG fan so I think the dynamism I’ve heard about in this one’s plot will win me over.
I was also a little turned off by DOS2, mainly because it felt like every decision was hugely pivotal to the story outcome, and sometimes it was nearly impossible to get the “good” outcome. BG3 is more forgiving, but is similar. There are more cutscenes, the story is better, and the audio effects on casting spells actually helped my enjoyment a lot. Someone bought the game for me and I really didn’t think I would like it, 200 hours later I’m a big fan.

Eldritch Blast really earned its name, I love the way the spell sounds in that game
I can’t remember what it sounds like, will have to fire it up! My favorite was Shadowheart healing. There’s a perfect amount of reverb and echo on it. Everything just sounds…powerful.
It will still be good when it comes on sale. It is however one of the few games where I decided to get it at full price, and I didn’t regret it.
I feel like this one actually earns that price tag
It’s an absolute gem
However don’t ruin yourself, no game is worth that
You won’t afford it by ruining yourself, unless it’s for spectators.
Same here. There’s many games I want to try/play but they are too expensive.
I have an ongoing lightside lore bard run that’s just entered act two. I’m very thankful that the devs added some official (if limited) mod support, because I can be confident now that my zillion cosmetic and interface mods won’t break my save forever with the new update. A had a two-thirds-through-act-three run with a gith storm sorc nearly a couple years ago that I left for a month or so and is all screwed up now with outdated mods.
Funny how the added classes are the exact playstyle I wanted the first time around, kept that dude who can revive the dead as fungus zombies as long as possible, also wanted a spellsword
Sweet just in time for me to start my first playthrough
I keep waiting for a sub 40 price now that i got my deck. Might have to just eat it, i know it’s worth the price.
I’m normally a $19.99 person – but I think I’ll make an exception here if I see $29.99.
I wait for under ten. I’ve had some games waitlisted for over a decade I’m pretty sure.
Tripping over Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 when they were around $10 (I think) - and knowing nothing about them going into it - was awesome.
I will start my first one any moment now… Or maybe next week
Thinking of starting my second when this update drops. I got part way through act 3 my first time but haven’t finished it and don’t recall what was going on.
At least Larian gets away from Wizards of the coast. I can’t wait to see what comes next!
Not looking forward to that moment WotC comes out with their version, though. The memes should be epic at least.
Their version? No. They already licensed it to Gameloft
…wait. Isn’t that company making only mobile games? Or did I confuse it eith another?
Oh boy their online Magic clients work so well, I’m sure they can flawlessly implement a subscription-service DM!
How many times has it been the final major update 💀
In 2035:
Have you heard of the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Baldur’s Gate XIV? With an expanded free trial which you can play through the entirety of A Forgotten Realm Reborn and the award-winning Astralward expansion up to level 20 for free with no restrictions on playtime. This particular final patch, the eighth major patch, is it. The contracts with Wizards of the Coast are expiring, which frees Larain Studios to work on different games.
While there will certainly be more games in the series, this particular one is effectively done.
Let the age of community made mods and campaigns begin!
I really need to finish this game. I got to the inn in the place with darkness (trying to be vague but also kinda forget) which I think is like the beginning of act II? Then life happened and I haven’t touched it since. I don’t remember anything, really, but I also kinda don’t want to start over. Oh well, it’s farming season so this will have to wait until winter anyway.
Yeah that’s act ii. If you just got there you’re probably near the beginning though technically it’s possible to do a bunch of other stuff first. In any case, you shouldn’t find it too difficult to jump back in - just check your journal to see which quests you have in progress. And if you’re considering going back to game it’s definitely worth it - the story really ramps up over acts 2 & 3.
Thank you!
You’re probably good to continue that save after the patch.
Have you been to the gith section?
If it doesn’t let me do something with the ropes then I don’t care.
BG 3’s biggest flaw. I wonder if they can fix that issue in the next game.
and here I am replaying BGI
Same! Well I finished 1 and am now starting 2.
BG2 my beloved.
Yea I just finished the chapter before going to BG, having a blast
Damn, I was planning to buy this when it gets cheap. Didn’t expect its journey to end this soon.
“Fast fashion” in pure thought form.
I mean, it’s still worth it. It’s not a live service game.
