Did he forget that communism always removed the inteligent, as in literate and schooled people, from anywhere? Jesus, I’m ashamed that I share a nationality with this guy.

          International testing orgs.

If you think Pol Pot was a socialist you haven’t looked into the actual policies he implemented. It is like people claiming Hitler was a socialist.

          • He claimed to be one and was supported by the soviet union, as did some other braindead regimes. I don’t doubt it was a red fascism or even tribalism. It’s just concerning that killing off clever people kinda tracks with red-painted authorities.

              He claimed to be one

And Hitler called himself a national socialist.

I don’t doubt it was a red fascism or even tribalism.

As someone who had family in a concentration camp, this is offensive and minimizes the holocaust. Fascists and socialists are not morally equivalent, stop calling socialists red fash.

It’s just concerning that killing off clever people kinda tracks with red-painted authorities.

No, socialists are genuinely in favor of suppressing the bourgeoisie and reactionary elements. If you think “kill smart people” is socialism than it is unsurprising you think Pol Pot was a socialist.

              • I had family members die in GuLag for no reason. Some of my grand-gramps (supposedly) killed a fucker from the Poverty Comitee who weren’t any better than wagnerites today. I mean, two can play this game at the same time, to guess who had it worse.

Why red faschism is that bad of a name? It’s a veey different stray of ideas but it ultimately leads to the same level of poppulist and corrupt authoritarianism if left unchecked. Because it leaves any principles behind if they are inconvinient. What USSR shown, and what Pol Pot with his junta put onto display.

Almost the only big modern experiments in socialism happened in Makho’s free state and Catalonia. Both were treacherously put down by soviets, with lies in Pravda suggesting the latter weren’t really socialists to begin with. That, coming from a stalinist state in the late 1930s.

I lose any sense of a practical difference when I dig into their story. Yeah, no (vocal) praise for racial identity, unless we don’t feel you jews or you tatars are complicit enough. No (vocal) praise for an idea of a superhuman, unless you take ‘soviet men’ identity replacing your own too seriously or ask about what happened to disabled people after the war, like in Valaam. No (vocal) definition of what genetically-determined classes are, but there’s Gulag, inescapable serfdom in kolkhoz, exclusive shops for internal party apparatus, that is, surprisingly, filled with russians even in republics.

I was trying hard not to argue. I failed.

And no, Hitler wasn’t happy about this monicker. Idk if any public speech of his after coming to power even had this word. He hated everything -socialist and probably wanted to distance himself from it.

Come to South Dakota, and I’ll introduce you to some people who will make even dumber comments about communism

(In fact, just pick someone at random and strike up a conversation)

TIL there are no capitalist people who can read, as reading leads into communism or something idk if I could read I’d probably try to find the meme in this

Well, capitalists(people who own the means of production) who can read generally continue to support the system that benefits them.

And they’re able to pay so proles mostly only read ideas that are supportive of capitalism.

But that isnt the point of the meme, the joke is that this guy thinks illiteracy is the best defense against communism, when the best defense is making communism into a boogeyman so literate people won’t read their ideas.

I think communists are the joke in this, as they are the joke in many things. Many people have read communist theory, it’s just trash theory, literate or not really.

Cool, so what theory have you read then? I’m guessing you’ve read the basics if you are so confident that they are trash. Or are you too scared of the boogeyman of communism to be exposed to its ideas?

I read at least the first two das kapitals in my upper secondary years (maybe the third too but can’t recall tbh). Reckon that’d be pretty basic introductory baby’s first taste of trash political ideologies.

Cool, what were the biggest problems you’ve found with them, and did you read later marxist critiques of those problems?

As a marxist leninist, I know those books have plenty of flaws, so I’m curious about which ones stood out to you.

Imma level down with you, I have no fucking recollection it was almost 20 years ago. I am leftist, and have been, but after reading through that I came to the conclusion that I am not a fucking looney and started living a life of a normal person.

Yes…it’s a dumb comment…but it’s kind of interesting too. Are we seeing the rise of the Right in the US because short form video became popular?

      Short answer: No.

Long answer: no, but there is some correlation between the average attention span dropping, people enjoying short form videos, and a lack of a mind for nuance which is exploited by right wing propagandists and populists, causing a rise in right wing or even far right authoritarian politicians being elected across the world. I’m not nearly educated enough in the field to make any causation claims though (edit: except the one about propaganda exploiting a lack of nuance which causes those far right politicians to be elected, that one doesn’t need a whole lot of expertise to confirm).
Also the US has always been a country of two conservative parties, which could have something to do with more people being susceptible to right wing propaganda

“Having legs” was always the most basic tool of bicyclist propaganda. If you have no legs, you can’t be fed bicyclist propaganda. The most steadfast anti-biker I knew in my childhood was a corn snake I found in my backyard. Bicycle propaganda did not reach him.

Weren’t attitudes like this literally why Lenin thought that Communism had to be forced on a society for a few generations for the least educated to “understand” Communism? Since there was no breaking through their preconceived notions? Because there’s literally no reaching these people?
