  • Well there’s the general world in fire and being trans in the US that’s ever present. For personal stuff I’m currently working toward moving to a new country and going back to college. Hoping that all pans out otherwise you know, being trans in the US…

Also to add I’m currently going through a divorce. Hoping that all pans out before no fault divorce goes under attack. But also I’m trans married so maybe they’ll just invalidate it anyway??

  • My ex spouse got an app that gave alerts every time there was anything going down in our neighborhood. They went from cautious to walk around at night to “omg we live in a crime riddled hellhole with people being murdered everywhere” and stopped going outside. People now have access to so much information, often explicitly designed to make you fearful, and we suck at statistics

  • A VR mech game could be so baller. Also a remake of Black and White would work well. But generally yeah it’s just not a great medium for most games and while we have a lot of promising hardware we’re struggling to find ways to use it intuitively

I think after the bubble breaks it does down a bit well see some groups take their time to build really functional stuff. We don’t have good standards on how to interact in VR and it shows. We don’t have enough data on how to make people less motion sick. Basically the hardware is there but the software isn’t and that’ll take more time than we’ve been giving it, imo

Realistically though I think the fundamental limits on how you can interact in VR means while there may be a strong niche market, I don’t expect it to be a mainstream thing. Even if the prices drop a lot and the headsets get smaller there’s still a lot working against them

  • Be super anxious that your spouse is going to start belittling you for not getting anything done so that the moment movement anywhere in the house happens you bolt awake and start cleaning something, get a divorce, move to a new house so all the noises are different and everything sets off the “oh fuck I need to wake up and clean” response, then carry that anxiety over to assuming your super caring new roommate is going to secretly hate you unless you’re always awake and cleaning something. Worked for me anyway I can wake up hours earlier than I used to I don’t even need an alarm

  • My favorite tactic used by several of the coffee shops near me is they start slowly turning the music louder. People naturally start leaving once it’s too loud to think or talk. Place I used to work at we’d turn off half the lights and everyone would just show up at the register no confrontation needed. People were fine with it a vast majority of the time but occasionally there would be someone who asked us to turn the lights back on so they could keep shopping
