They supposedly can be disabled in settings- but we all know that won’t last. They’re going full Microsoft Skype mode and it’s only a matter of time.

IRC is text only.
More recent alternatives such as XMPP and Matrix have voice extensions, but their clients aren’t as good as Discord’s.
I figured that was still the case, but would have been pleasantly surprised if it wasn’t. I don’t really keep up on IRC these days
