So, how do you deal with communities that don’t interest you? I personally block them, because I don’t like them popping up on my All feed, but at the same time I don’t want to switch to Subscribed because a new interesting community might pop up.

What’s your strategy?

    I just browse by Subscribed.

Sometimes if I’m bored or want to look for new communities I switch to All.

Same here. Also, since Sync launched, I’ve found that its search facility is great for finding communities and every so often I’ll run a series of searches and just see what pops up

Eg, I searched for “a”, “b”, “c”, obviously, but then also “ab”, “cd”, “ef”, etc, then “az”, “by”, “cx”, and so on. Found a few fun ones as a result.

Yea I just block them. Which is pretty much all political, news or religious related communities. Also the occasional “SFW” communities that are still NSFW. Just because they have clothes on doesn’t mean nearly naked people are safe for work.

I block them. I don’t need to dislike them or anything. I just don’t find them interesting and will never interact with them, so blocking is one of the ways to accomplish that and has no downsides.

I browse on All almost exclusively, and if a community or poster is notably toxic or spammy I block them, but if they just don’t interest me, then I just scroll past them.

Honestly, I don’t even understand what the supposed problem is. The world is full of things that don’t interest me. That’s just the way it goes, and really it’s just background noise that I barely even notice.

I browse both my subscribed feed and the all feed depending on my mood. If a community is particularly obnoxious it gets blocked, otherwise I just ignore it when I’m browsing all. Most of my blocks are meme, tankie and NSFW communities.

I block news, politics, memes, communities that are not relevant to me.

Even like this, it’s hard to find relevant content.

I browse the subscribed feed and then check a few specific communities. After that, I get on with life. (Until next moment I’m bored)

Block them. I’m the least interested in sports and so I simply block all the related communities (except like Formula 1). Same with “subs” in a language I don’t speak.

And then there are simp communities where some neckbeards post images of “females” how they use to call women.

I only browse by subscribed. Part of the reason I stopped browsing reddit is they won’t stop showing me content I didn’t sub.

they won’t stop showing me content I didn’t sub.

Maybe because I only used Apollo and occasionally old.reddit.com but I never experienced that, thank goodness.

      That would drive me nuts…

It’s definitely because Apollo. It was never a problem in RIF, only in the official app once 3PAs were killed.

I browse all because I don’t really know what communities are out there that I might be interested in.

There’s also some communities where I might not like the content very often but there’s a few hidden gems.

Exactly. You’ll never know what you miss out on when always browsing communities you’re already subscribed to. Of course there’s also some trash on the frontpage.

I feel like percentage wise there’s a lot less than on Reddit. Plus new communities are always being creating and I like staying in the loop

You could browse only your subscriptions on reddit, too.

The algo on the official app inserts other content even so. It was never a problem on RIF.

Maybe, I never used that. It didn’t do that on the normal desktop version of the webside. Not sure what a RIF is.

I block them, then they never show up in my All feed. Easy enough. I’m waiting for the option to personally block entire instances.

If I’m disinterested to the point of annoyance, I block them, if it’s just meh, I leave them unsubscribed. That way I can view either my subscribed list, or the all list if I want to see something else/random.
