I don’t like this trend! War movies in 10-20 years will be boring. No Rambos, no Schwarzeneggers, no Spielberg and Tom Hanks emotional patriotism! No funny casual racism, no casual homophobia, no casual misoginy… Did Mark Hamil play a terrorist in Star Trek after all? The End of an Era. We’re gonna have to watch films about how a bribed White House politicant struggles to keep up with weapon manufacture demands while managing to convince his wife not to divorce him because she feels neglected since he’s never at home… directed by Clint Eastwood.
That’s boring. I’m out!
… “won’t support our key middle east partner any longer” …
lol. They will forget. We are forgetting faster and faster… the new generations are also not caring more and more. And we need oil. Lot’s of oil.
It’s all going as planned. What these butchers (not just Israel, also US and EU) are doing to Palestine today will just be a footnote of a ‘war against terrorists’ in few years.
This genocide is no freak accident (weakened Israeli defense systems my ass). All our politicians hands and by proxy our hands are steeped in blood… and the Nazis are louder and louder in Europe again… cheered on and supported by the mighty american and british media and war machines. All running on oil.
The ones that will still be remembering won’t have any platform to be seen or to act upon…
But you did choose those leaders, by accepting the two party system and always voting for the lesser evil. The phenomenon of ‘the lesser evil’ isn’t born out of necessity, it is manufactured, so the people who have money can earn even more wealth and power every 4 years by giving you their option for leadership.
I like the idea of the guillotine, but those blades have never been sharpened in the US… you always liked your less evil leaders.
Just finished ‘The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet’ by Becky Chambers - quite fun space opera (if you like Firefly etc.), I’ll definitely pick up the rest of the series at one point.
Started reading ‘They Never Learn’ by Layne Fargo - Starts interesting, I feel I’ll finish this one.
After that I will definitely start reading ‘All Systems Red’ by Martha Wells - I’ve been hearing about ‘Murderbot Diaries’ and how good they are for years now…
I like reading scifi most, but always try to squeeze some other genre in between.
All this… all this multi billion dollar development, all those ‘brains’, all the time and space a tech company occupies in it’s lifetime… just to force you to watch ads?
What a shitty society and what a shitty communication system we have, just because some morons want to earn some billions more…
There is no endgame when it comes to greed, those pricks will always want more.
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
Yes, but the product they sell is You. They’re more like a pimp version of ad companies. But not the racist Hollywood type, you know: funny dressed black guy with a cylinder hat and a cane. No, this one wears wife beaters, takes showers once or twice a month and takes advantage of you every day, and still sells you to the lowest bidder…
Genocide is illegal (I think, it’s kinda blurry for decades now). Don’t see those people concerned about it. I don’t think these people care about law. They bend it to their will, like they do with their tax-paying citizenry who vote and pay for them.
